For the first time, the regularities of hydrogen embrittlement of gas pipeline steels in the as-received and operated states have been established based on quantitative and qualitative assessments of microstructural features, residual hydrogen content, strength and plasticity characteristics, impact strength of steels, fracture toughness, and macro- and microfracture mechanisms taking into account the steel texture, which made it possible to assess the impact of operational conditions and steels hydrogenation on changes in these characteristics. A concept of an experimental and computational method for obtaining and analysing true stress–strain diagrams of steels is developed and substantiated considering their structural and mechanical state and hydrogenation, as well as a methodology for constructing true stress–strain diagrams of pipe steels based on mechanical and metallographic studies.
