The purpose of the research is the implementation of modern requirements of the directives of the European Union (ADR-2021 (regarding the conditions for the safe transportation of hydrogen), ATEX-2014 (regarding the threats to areas exposed to hydrogen explosions, safe distances from hydrogen objects), PED-2014 ( regarding the operation of vessels under hydrogen pressure), IAE Safety Standarts on improving the efficiency and safety of the elements of the hydrogen infrastructure of operating nuclear installations at the enterprises of NAEK "Energoatom" based on the assessment of their durability by methods of the mechanics of destruction. Research methods – metallographic studies and mechanical tests. Based on the obtained results on the effect of hydrogen on the properties of the structural materials of the hydrogen infrastructure elements of the main equipment of the NPP turbine halls, the choice of modern hydrogen-resistant structural steels, copper and nickel alloys was substantiated, and the modes of safe operation of the domestic production hydrogen infrastructure elements (including the hydrogen gas coolers of the turbine units) of the 2nd circuit of the NPP were determined. This makes it possible to extend the resource of their work at the NPP with the introduction of appropriate additions to the Methodological Instructions, which take into account the current requirements of the EU directives. The terms of reference for the preparation of methodological instructions for assessing the resource of structural elements of vessels for long-term storage of gaseous hydrogen and hydrogen gas coolers of the 2nd circuit of the NPP have been developed and approved.
