A methodology for assessing the impact of de-icing chemicals used for winter road maintenance on the coefficient of adhesion and removal of snow and ice deposits from road surfaces has been developed. Based on the results of the research, experimental studies of the effect of deicing chemicals on the coefficient of adhesion and the effectiveness of the use of chemicals for removing snow and ice deposits from road pavement were carried out. The expediency of using physicochemical analysis in the development and research of deicing reagents is shown. The methodology used in the development of new anti-icing reagents is described, including the criterion for selecting salts, the methodology for studying phase equilibria in water-salt systems (visual-polythermal analysis), and the determination of the anti-icing properties of salts and salt compositions (eutectic temperature and melting ability). A criterion for quantifying the effectiveness of deicing reagents is proposed - the melting ability of the reagent in relation to ice at different temperatures. Data on newly developed deicing reagents are presented, including the composition of the reagents, the parameters of eutectics formed with ice (temperature and concentration of the solution) and the melting ability of the reagents in relation to ice at temperatures of -5, -10 and -20°C.
