Semenenko Institute of geochemistry, mineralogy and ore formation popup.description2  Mineralogical and geochemical features of uranium minerals from alkaline metasomatite deposits have been identified: 1) three conventional types are defined, such as branerite, uranite, and hydroxy-silicate (hypergene) based on mineral composition; 2) for each mineral type the specific uranium minerals and their composition are identified; it is defined that the most abundant ones are: oxides and hydroxides (uranium black, hydronasturan, urgit, masyuit, uranosphaerite, fourmarierite), silicates (uranophane, boltwoodite, betauranotil); for ore-bearing metasomatites of the region such accessory uranium-bearing minerals are typical: monazite, thorite, zircon, as well as uranium-bearing ilmenite (davidite); orthite, xenotime, and allanite occur rarely. Analytical technique of element detection in U-minerals from alkaline metasomatites has been considerably improved. 3D mapping of uranium minerals distribution for specific uranium deposits and ore bodies is planned based on obtained mineralogical data. Application of the results of uranium mineral study is essential for ecological issues raised during uranium ore exploration.
