The subject of research is the methodological principles of modern interior design. The purpose of the work is to determine the methodological principles of the design of modern interiors and to identify the conditions and system-structural principles of their formation. Research methods. The conducted research is based on a systematic approach, which helps to determine the hierarchy of the principles of the design of modern interiors. The work uses both general scientific (empirical and theoretical, in particular observation, analysis and synthesis, comparison, abstraction and generalization, deductive and inductive, source studies, factual methods) and special methods of scientific research (historical- comparative, formal-typological and artistic- composite). As a result of the study, the main groups of factors and conditions determining the design of modern interiors were identified, summarized and analyzed. The trends in the formation of modern interiors have been analyzed and specified. The system-structural principles of their design have been established. The methodology and technique of designing modern interiors is defined, according to which the issues of their rational functional, spatial, constructive, technological and engineering organization should be comprehensively resolved. In conclusion, the criteria for evaluating the interior in the context of the paradigm of sustainable design are presented in the work. The results of the work can be used in the process of interior design of residential and public buildings. Based on the results of the research, it is possible to create methodological recommendations both for the educational process and for designers. The results of the work can be implemented in the process of training designers of educational interiors of furniture and furniture, as well as in the process of designing, operating and reconstructing modern interiors of various purposes.
