The object of research is the processes and regularities of the formation of lowland meadow grass stands for haymaking, increasing their productivity and the peculiarities of the formation of phytocenoses under the influence of strip sowing of leguminous grasses with full mineral fertilization. The purpose of the research is to find out the impact of long-term surface improvement of lowland meadow grasses, by applying mineral and limestone fertilizers and sowing leguminous components, on the features of the formation of the productivity of phytocenoses and quality indicators of fodder with the aim of producing highly nutritious grass fodder. Research methods - field and laboratory using: visual - to determine the physiological state of plants, measuring and weighing - to determine yield; laboratory-analytical - to determine the botanical and economic composition of haystacks; statistical to determine the reliability of the results obtained. Field research is conducted at the experimental base of the Institute of Agriculture of the Carpathian Region of the National Academy of Sciences. Experiments are carried out at a long-term stationary plant established in 1974 on dark gray podzolized light loamy surface-glazed soils drained by pottery drainage. The productivity of lowland meadow grass stands was determined, the regularities of improvement of quality parameters of fodder were determined, and an economic assessment was given depending on the methods of surface improvement.
