The purpose of the study is to comprehensively cover aspects of the formation of the architectural environment of an industrial city, to formulate methodological principles of ecologization of the architectural environment of an industrial city for use by managers of enterprises, architects in the practice of architectural design, reconstruction of objects of the architectural environment of an industrial city, as well as teachers and students of universities. Research methods - methods of environmental analysis, analysis of urban planning characteristics, territorial analysis, field survey, theoretical modeling, experimental design, generalization, analysis, analysis of literary sources, graphic modeling, computer modeling.The existing modern approaches to the architectural environment are analyzed. Using the methodology of system analysis, the principles of designing and shaping the environment, searching for new scientific and technological approaches to the formation of architectural space are identified. The experience of building and designing adaptive architecture is summarized. The main directions of development of energy efficiency and interactivity techniques are highlighted. The historical, architectural and theoretical aspects of the study, preservation, regeneration and reconstruction of the architectural and urban heritage are revealed.
