It was proved that when selecting for the background trait, which was the NDVI-index, its genetically determined variation was greater than the genetic variation of the target trait (grain yield) and had high heritability. Yield and NDVIrv, NDVIan were highly correlated, while NDVIsv had a weaker relationship with productivity, showing the principle potential of selection for NDVI to increase productivity. The level of heritability of traits ranged from 0.23 (GpE) to 0.76 (NDVIan), maximum likelihood test (LRT) estimation also confirmed the significant effect of genotypes on most traits. The REML/BLUP method in combination with the multivariate AMMI and GGE-biplot methods with the graphical selection of genotypes by the Z index allows to determine the promising set of traits. Selection lines LUT 55198, LUT 37519 and varieties MIP Assol', MIP Dniprianka were selected for further use in breeding programs. The field of application is grain production.
