Beketov national university of urban economy in Kharkiv popup.description2  The review and comparative analysis of published sources identifies the current state of climate change issues at global and national levels, the factors of climate impact on the components of the urban environment, and the principles of methodology for assessing the impact of climate change on the urban environment and public health. The results of the analysis indicate that the combined effects of urbanisation and climate change pose a threat to economic security and social stability. Due to the high concentration of population, industry and infrastructure, urban agglomerations are the most vulnerable to the effects of climate change. There is an urgent need to mitigate climate change by minimising the anthropogenic contribution in the form of greenhouse gas emissions and to adapt cities to a changing climate. Methods of combating climate change that are being actively implemented in Ukraine include climate change mitigation by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and climate change adaptation by implementing measures to reduce the vulnerability of natural and anthropogenic systems to climate threats. Climate factors, both individually and in combination, affect the health of both individuals and the population of specific areas as a whole. Abrupt and rapid climate change usually leads to negative consequences for all or a significant part of the human population. The effects of short- and medium-term climate change on public health have a certain time lag. Therefore, the identification of the climate component in the dynamics of health and morbidity indicators of urban populations requires the use of complex integrated methods of time series analysis and multivariate statistics based on well-documented data from medical, climatic, economic and socio-demographic statistics.
