The purpose of the study is to clarify the physical and mechanical properties of Carpathian spruce during operation, and to perform a comparative analysis of the material's properties with the base species. To develop recommendations for amending the current standards for the engineering of wooden structures made of solid wood. Research methods - methods of material resistance, methods of calculation of wooden structures, laboratory research. In the process of technical inspection of buildings and structures constructed with the use of both solid wood log cabins and lumber from the Carpathian spruce, the processes of structural elements of buildings and structures leaving the working condition are widely observed. This fact can only be due to the discrepancy between the strength and deformation properties of Carpathian spruce and the declared characteristics in regulatory documents. Partial recommendations for amending the current standards for the design of solid wood structures are formulated.
