Modern production methods and areas of application of viscotropic alloys are analyzed. Technological schemes for conducting experimental research have been developed, the choice of materials, equipment and research methods has been substantiated. The conditions for the formation of disordered solid solutions and eutectics in high-entropy alloys are determined. On the basis of thermodynamic calculations, the Fe-Ni-Cu-Mn-Cr system with an equiatomic ratio of components was chosen as the components of a high-entropy alloy for alloying gray iron and obtaining self-lubricating bearings. Thermodynamic parameters ΔSmix, ΔHmix are 13.4 J/mol•K and ΔHmix = 3 kJ/mol, respectively. On the basis of the conducted analysis, the expediency of using the casting method for obtaining high-entropy alloys is substantiated. As equipment for smelting, a special vacuum induction furnace developed on the basis of a mine vacuum resistance furnace with operating parameters: VCHG - 6 KW, 20 KHz, maximum temperature - 1600 °С is proposed. The conducted studies confirm the prospect of using the unique properties of high-entropy alloys in the modern realities of materials science, namely as alloying additives for gray cast iron in order to obtain self-lubricating bearings.
