The purpose of the work: the study of aerodynamics and heat exchange in the window-environment system and, on this basis, conducting scientific and technical substantiation and methods and mechanisms for reducing heat losses through window structures, increasing their energy efficiency. Research methodology: for the study of aerodynamics and heat exchange, specially developed original programs for calculating transfer processes were used. Licensed commercial computer packages were used in some tasks. Experimental studies were carried out in a climatic chamber, in an experimental passive house of the "zero-energy" type at the training ground of energy-efficient windows of the administrative building of the institute. Modern precision sensors, converters, and computer equipment were used. Results and their novelty: The results of determining the temperature fields and the distribution of heat flow on the surfaces of all investigated windows were obtained. Their thermal insulation properties were evaluated. For the first time in Ukraine, the following theoretically, experimentally, and practically investigated: double windows (two consecutive two-chamber windows) without and with thermally ventilated inter-window space; three-chamber double-glazed window; vacuum double-glazed window. For the first time, scientific and technical approaches to the use of double-glazed windows with nanostructured aerogel were proposed. Further development of the study of the thermal resistance of window profiles of different configurations was obtained. A comprehensive analysis was carried out and the optimization of the choice of windows in terms of the ratio of energy efficiency and cost was proposed.
