Bogatsky National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 Objects of research – glycerol, N-hydroxyphthalimides, glycerol oxidation products. Aim of work – development scientific basis complex of organocatalytic methods for glycerol oxidation and its derivatives with oxygen into products with high added value. Study effect of structure potential organocatalysts (N-hydroxyimides) and reaction conditions on composition of glycerol oxidation products and its derivatives. Optimization and regulation selectivity and depth of oxidation processes. Research methods: gas chromatography, spectrophotometry, potentiometry, IR spectroscopy. Literature data on methods of obtaining various N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) derivatives and their precursors were searched, systematized and summarized. Attempts were made to obtain NHPI derivatives from anhydrides or esters using various methods. The method of obtaining NHPI was optimized and required amount was accumulated for development methodology for glycerol oxidation with air oxygen. Development methods of synthesis 3-nitrophthalic and 4-tert-butylphthalic acids and their anhydrides as precursors for obtaining corresponding Ν-hydroxyimides. The collection and analysis of information on use NHPI as a catalyst in hydrocarbon oxidation reactions with air oxygen was carried out, paying attention to alcohols oxidation. It was found that primary alcohols are preferentially oxidized to carboxylic acids, while secondary alcohols are oxidized to corresponding ketones. Oxidation of alcohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds is usually carried out in presence of reducing agent such as an aldehyde. It is shown that NHPI/Co catalytic system allows alcohols to be oxidized under mild conditions. This process can also proceed at room temperature when m-chlorobenzoic acid is added to reaction. Methods of glycerol oxidation (bubble-type installation, volumetric installation), analysis of oxidation products have been determined. Product Description popup.authors Davtian Araksia S.
