The direct approach to the fuel cycle has some unfavorable features, such as a strong change in the neutron multiplication factor and the accumulation of americium isotopes, which will probably prevent its practical use. The solution proposed in this paper is to add uranium-238 to both the original fuel and the reprocessed fuel. The reusable fuel cycle for uranium-238 considered in the work, if implemented in practice, can bring revolutionary changes to nuclear energy. The full use of uranium-238 provides an almost infinite resource for the production of electricity. Apart from energy, the net output of the fuel cycle consists only of fission products, which are by-products and not waste. The shortage of delayed neutrons significantly affects the controllability and safety of the reactor. The solution is a subcritical nuclear reactor with an external neutron source. This paper analyzes the use of a stellarator-probetron (SP) nuclear-thermonuclear hybrid for a fuel cycle with multiple recycling. The preliminary results of calculations regarding the JV project of a hybrid nuclear reactor are presented. Experimental studies on the SP hybrid on the Uragana-2M show that the key properties required for this hybrid are quite achievable. Preparations were made for measuring the intensity of hard X-ray radiation and obtaining the energy spectrum at the Uragan-2M installation.  Product Description popup.authors Dreval Mykola В.
