It was found that the main factors influencing the accumulation of gases in the coal-bearing stratum include the geological evolution of the basin and its individual sections, the tectonic structure of deposits, coal content, hydrogeological and hydrochemical conditions, the lithological composition of capacious rocks and their reservoir properties, the thickness and composition of cover deposits, the degree coalification and petrographic composition of coal. Predictive and prospective methane resources of the coal-bearing stratum were analyzed, the modern extraction and gas generation potential of gas-coal deposits of the Lviv-Volyn Basin was determined.
