The subject of the study is the theoretical and methodological principles and practical provisions that determine the regularities of the formation and evolution of the development of industrial ecosystems in the conditions of Industry 4.0 in the context of the problems of sustainable development. The purpose of the study is to identify modern features of the evolution of industrial ecosystems in the context of Industry 4.0 in the context of sustainable development issues. Research methods include: general scientific methods - analysis and synthesis, a systematic approach to the analysis of economic processes and phenomena; methods of theoretical knowledge in economics - institutional and evolutionary theories; methods of economic, statistical analysis, comparisons and observations, which allow to identify trends, cause-and-effect relationships and contradictions in the development of industrial ecosystems. During the research, the following tasks were set and solved: the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of industrial ecosystems are determined;an assessment of industrial ecosystems of different levels of technological development and degree of sustainability was carried out; diagnostics of industrial ecosystems of the regions of Ukraine was carried out. The most significant results that characterize the scientific novelty of the research are the following: it is justified that industrial ecosystems should be comprehensively considered in ecological and technological contexts.
