The existing state of normative-legal and normative-methodological documents of Ukraine and the world regarding ways to improve the biological state of aquatic ecosystems is analyzed. It was determined that the number of studies on this issue is small and mainly concerns the distribution of herbivorous fish in reservoirs. It is proposed to take into account other components of aquatic ecosystems, which are components of trophic chains, the circulation of substances, energy flows and form the bioproduction potential of aquatic ecosystems and the quality of the aquatic environment (phytoplankton, higher aquatic plants, zoobenthos, etc.). A new direction of biological reclamation has been substantiated - the bioreclamation complex of water bodies, which is an effective method of minimizing biological threats. Theoretical substantiation, analysis and generalization of the obtained results of field and laboratory studies contributed to the determination of the peculiarities of the functioning of biomelioration complexes on water bodies of Ukraine of various types and purposes.
