The purpose of the study is to analyze the academic potential and barriers to the formation and functioning of an innovative regional ecosystem of young scientists and to provide practical recommendations for strengthening the institutional, informational, human resources, and scientific components of young scientists in the Southern region of Ukraine to form centers of intellectual growth of the academic environment aimed at the development of higher education. Research methods. The study used theoretical methods of institutional analysis of scientific activity, statistical methods of researching the scientific potential of young scientists in the Southern region of Ukraine, methods of sociological research, and cognitive analysis of scientific abstractions and generalizations. The research paper analyzes the legal framework that regulates the work of young scientists in Ukraine. An analysis of international experience and global innovations in the system of higher education management was carried out. The academic potential and innovative activities of young scientists in the Southern region of Ukraine are studied, and barriers and motivational factors of scientific activity are analyzed. Proposals are made to strengthen the formation of institutional, informational, personnel, and scientific components of the potential of young scientists in the Southern region of Ukraine.
