The electromagnetic (EM) oscillations of microwave range as generated in non-vacuumized transmission lines, partially filled with a gyrotropic material, that do not employ electron beams as primary sources of energy. The work is aimed at – extending the range of output parameters (oscillation frequencies, pulse durations and levels of radiated power) of the non-vacuumized generators essentially based on gyrotropic transmission lines; – implementing efficient electron beam-free generators of regular VHF oscillations and analyzing output parameters thereof through theoretical, numerical and experimental work. Principal results: – real-life radiative experiments performed with transmission lines that involve no additional structures to slow down the signal wave have demonstrated plausibility of obtaining, at gigahertz frequencies, pulsed power outputs well in excess of the 200 MW level declared. - numerical and real-life experiments with systems that combine gyrotropic transmission lines, characterized by a nonlinear electromagnetic response, and metal periodic slow-wave structures have demonstrated generation of lasting, low attenuating microwave oscillations under the Cherenkov synchronism conditions.
