The purpose of research to deepen the scientific and methodological principles of balanced land use in rural areas based on an integrated approach to management, rational use and protection of land resources, taking into account risks in land use. Research methods: monographic, method of system analysis, abstract-logical (to clarify the essence of the main concepts), method of complex, statistical, graphic-analytical, factorial and functional analysis. Research results. The expediency of using institutional approaches to further ensure ecologically safe land use in rural areas is substantiated. Specific signs of institutionalism are singled out, which play a significant role in ensuring ecologically safe land use of rural areas at the national, regional and local levels. It has been proved that the management and planning systems formed and developed over a long period of time, in particular in the field of land relations, are oriented towards the development of decisions regarding the strategic development of territories based on the systematic coordination of the goals of ecologically safe nature use with the tasks of balanced development of rural areas. It was established that in combination the existing methodological approaches to the organizational-economic mechanism of ecologically safe land use generally provide the dynamics of the ecological imperative for highly productive, energy-saving agricultural production. Complex schemes for the organization of the territory of administrative-territorial units should become an important element of the land use management system and control over the relevant processes at the local level.
