Purpose - to theoretically justify and develop a genetic selection technique for the creation and selection of parents of confectionary sunflower hybrids with improved quality of oil. Methods - field, laboratory, statistical. Donor capacities of parental lines of hybrids were determined for seed traits and quality indicators. Donors of large seeds (3 lines - pollen fertility restorers) and high content (≥85%) of oleic acid in oil (8 confectionary lines - pollen fertility restorers) have been created. Seeds of 20 lines - pollen fertility restorers and lines - sterility fixers with valuable economic traits have been propagated. "Catalogue of Self-Pollinated Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) Lines - Donors of High Oleic Acid Content in Oil" has been compiled (chapter 4). IR Chudovyi confectionary hybrid has been bred. Methodological guidelines "Methodical Principles for Creation of Confectionary Sunflower Hybrids" have been issued. Kosmos hybrid; a short-season line - sterile counterpart, a parental component of Skh 66 A confectionery hybrid; a short-season line - sterile counterpart, a parental component of Skh 146 A dual-use hybrid; and a line - sterile counterpart, a parental component of Skh 17 A dual-use hybrid, with a high content of oleic acid in oil have been included in the State Register of Plant Varieties Suitable for Dissemination in Ukraine. The confectionary sunflower hybrid growing technology has been improved. It was revealed that the protein content was most affected by varietal features (45.0%). In addition, the protein content changes significantly depending on year (12.4%) and the plant density (10.7%). Fertilizers (4.1%) and tillage (1.5%) also significantly affect this characteristic.
