The near-surface zone is formed mainly due to the condensation and solidification of the melt on the surface. It was established that a distinctive feature of the radiation-induced microstructure of zirconium irradiated with neutrons is, firstly, the coexistence of prismatic loops of different nature, and secondly, the nucleation and growth of vacancy base loops to large sizes.
