Research methods – analytical-systemic methods (systemic analysis, generalization and synthesis of studied materials). An analysis of the current state of legislative and regulatory support for reforming the water resources management system and land reclamation was performed. The analysis was carried out based on the results of processing the available array of Codes and laws of Ukraine, resolutions and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a number of departmental normative and legal acts regulating the formation and implementation of state water policy and policy in the field of land reclamation. Based on the results of the analysis, it was established that after the signing of the association agreement with the EU (2014), the process of reforming the system of water resources management and land reclamation in accordance with the requirements of the EU Water Framework Directive 20/60/EC was initiated, which has not been completed to this day. The scientific and methodological principles of legislative and regulatory regulation of the water resources management system and sustainable development of irrigation and drainage have been developed. An analysis of the implementation of the developed scientific and methodological principles in the practice of legislative and regulatory regulation of the water resources management system and sustainable development of irrigation and drainage was carried out.
