We conclude that some anesthetics are able to inhibit spontaneous and/or carbachol-induced contractions of the small intestine and cause vasoconstriction, and that TRP channels, in particular TRPC4 of the ileum and TRPV4 of the pulmonary arteries, may be molecular targets.
