ZI Nekrasov of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  The performed work includes theoretical and experimental studies of processes of off-furnace desulfurization of cast iron by blowing various reagents into ladles of different sizes, different initial and required final sulfur contents in cast iron after processing - up to ≤0.002%. As a result, nomograms and calculation models for determining the parameters of cast iron desulfurization in various refining conditions with wide limits of the initial sulfur content in cast iron (0.020-0.10%), the final sulfur content were developed ≤0.002-0.015%, iron temperature -1200-1450 °C, iron mass - 40-350 t and other individual refining conditions. The developed calculation models make it possible to determine the actual and predicted (with a degree of 95% guarantees) parameters of the refining process (specific consumption of the reagent, final sulfur content, the amount of reduction in the temperature of cast iron, additional slag formation and other costs). The issue of thermodynamics, aerodynamics and hydrodynamics of the interaction of blowing two-phase flows with liquid cast iron melt, taking into account the conditions of its ladle injection refining, was studied. Diagrams of changes in the parameters of two-phase flows and their components in the pre-furnace zone were obtained. An improved methodology for evaluating the technical and economic indicators of cast iron desulfurization has been developed and mastered in research practice, the main characteristic of which is the accounting and application of not only the previously determined desulfurization parameters, but also new indicators of the out-of-furnace processing of cast iron in ladles. The creation of new cast iron desulphurization complexes, the technological part of the complex technical task for designing and mastering the technology of cast iron desulfurization with granular magnesium, was developed and mastered in practice.
