The purpose of the work is to develop an idea of the peculiarities of the residual austenite transformation in complex-alloyed steels and apply it to the processes of controlled structure formation and increase of wear resistance of metal products made of 38ХН3МФА, 65Х3СМФ, 80Х3МФ and 80Х5МФ steels. On the basis of the results of comprehensive theoretical studies on the peculiarities of phase-structural transformations during the cooling of steels, the analytical model of austenite transformation in complex alloyed steels was further developed. The peculiarities of the formation and transformation of residual austenite, as well as the structure formation in alloyed steels have been established. The main regularities of phase-structural transformations in complex-alloyed steels during complex heat treatment are determined. Analytical models have been developed to predict the type of structure and the content of residual austenite in steels depending on the parameters of the hardening technology. The research contributed to the development of an ultrasonic express method for determining the residual austenite content in the steels structure. The influence of the sequence of technological factors and treatment’s parameters on the transformation of residual austenite and changes in the wear resistance of complex-alloyed steels was determined. On the basis of theoretical and experimental researches, scientifically based recommendations for improving the heat treatment technology of large-sized metal products for critical applications made of complex-alloyed steels have been developed to increase their operational stability. The developed proposals and created technological solutions can be recommended for industrial implementation at machine-building enterprises that manufacture large-sized metal products for critical applications from complex alloy steels.
