Key words: ionospheric plasma, magnetohydrodynamic force, supersonic plasma flows, ion current, numerical modeling. The object of research is a "magnetized" solid body in the ionospheric plasma. The purpose of the work is to study the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) interaction of a solid body and ionospheric plasma, taking into account the mutual orientation of the vectors of induction of the internal and external magnetic fields. Research methods are theoretical and experimental. A physical modelling of the interaction of a "magnetized" solid body with plasma flow in the Earth's ionosphere is carried out. Dependence of drag coefficient on the body’s own magnetic field pressure to the velocity head ratio for conductive and dielectric spheres, a blunt dielectric cone is obtained. Different angles between the vectors of magnetic field induction and ion velocity are considered. It is found that MHD braking effect manifests itself stronger for conducting bodies than dielectric ones. Based on the system of Vlasov-Poisson equations, a numerical modelling of the interaction of the plasma flow with a cylinder in a uniform longitudinal magnetic field is performed. The ion current on the cylinder is determined depending on the characteristic size and electric potential of the cylinder, and the plasma flow velocity. The procedure for determining the degree of ion dissociation and electron density in the jet of a gas discharge source using an isolated probe system is developed. The errors in determining the plasma parameters are estimated depending on the geometric parameters of the probe system and the accuracy of the probe measurements. The field of use is fluid, gas and plasma mechanics. The socio-economic importance of this work is in the development of procedures, methods and means for pollution prevention, cleaning of the near-Earth space using MHD force.
