Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  The purpose of the work is to build physical and mathematical models for the study of electrodynamic characteristics of finite photonic crystals with hyperbolic and gyrotropic elements and electron-wave interaction using semiconductor nanotubes as electrodynamic systems. An analytical theory of the excitation of bulk and surface waves in a finite magnetophotonic crystal with the Voigt configuration has been developed. A combined solution method based on solving the Helmholtz equation using new fundamental solutions of the Hill equation and the transfer matrix method is proposed. The fundamental solutions of the Hill equation are found in analytical form within the framework of the Flocke-Bloch wave theory. The main attention is paid to the case of excitation of surface waves at the boundaries of the interface of adjacent layers. Two types of surface waves have been identified, namely modified Zennek-Sommerfeld waves and unusual gyrotropic surface waves. The regularities of electron-wave interaction in a system containing a semiconductor nanotube as an electrodynamic system were investigated. Linear and nonlinear theories of the hydrodynamic instability of an electron beam moving along a dielectric-filled nanotube placed in a coaxial permanent magnetic field have been developed. The calculations were made taking into account the delay effect of electromagnetic fields. The physical mechanism underlying the excitation of such waves is Cherenkov resonance.
