The purpose of research is the operational load evaluation of load-bearing elements of freight wagons with swap bodies and the recommendations developing for fasteners that ensure the safety of transportation of various cargoes in wagons with swap bodies. Research methods: finite element, linear algebra and numerical integration methods. The scientific novelty of the research work is mathematical models of the dynamics of freight wagons with swap bodies at operating motion regimes, as well as finite element models to study the stress-strain state of elements of a freight wagon with a swap body under standard loads, taking into account the features of swap body attachments to the wagon frame and the presence of gaps in the fastening elements. As a result of the research work, patent research has been conducted on designs of wagons with swap bodies, a review of the regulatory framework for the design of wagons with swap bodies, and an analysis of existing designs of body-to-platform fasteners for wagons with swap bodies. The strength of the elements of the above wagons in operation has been assessed in accordance with the requirements of the Ukrainian State Standard EN 12663. The practical significance of the results obtained in the course of the research work is the development of proposals for a promising domestic design of a freight wagon with swap bodies and recommendations for fasteners that ensure the safety of cargo transportation in wagons with swap bodies.
