Methods: theory of algorithms and programming; theoretical analysis of the state of problem research and study of the best examples of technical and technological solutions; generalization and systematization of domestic and foreign practical experience in designing, creating and using digital encyclopedic editions; design of digital scientific and educational resources and technologies; modeling of an open Internet platform; collection, processing, systematization and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative results, own research materials; generalization of the obtained research results. Results: The main historical stages of the evolution of the development of electronic encyclopedia publications, the main types of scientific electronic encyclopedias and the trends of their use and development have been specified. The concept of the "Ukrainian electronic encyclopedia of education" (UEEЕ) and the procedure for deploying this open internet platform have been developed. The software and technical features of support of freely distributed software platforms based on wiki technology, which can be used to deploy the encyclopedia, have been specified. MediaWiki is recommended as an appropriate tool for developing a prototype electronic encyclopedia. The model of the analytical and search reference system to support the conceptual and terminological apparatus of education was substantiated and developed; the conceptual model of the UEEЕ and the structural model of the UEEЕ article.
