The subjects of research are representatives of the FAMILIES: Amaryllidaceae, Iridaceae, Lamiaceae, Liliaceae, Oxalidaceae, Papaveraceae, Poaceae, Polemoniaceae, Verbenaceae, etc. The object of research is morphobiological features, organogenesis, reproductive biology, ecological resistance to abiotic and biotic factors of the environment, introduction evaluation, agrotechnics of cultivation, methods and techniques of plant reproduction and rejuvenation, selection potential of introducers and selection and genetic aspects of expansion and improvement of the hybrid fund of ornamental plants. The purpose of the work is to optimize, preserve and enrich the collection fund of ornamental plants, study the ecological and biological features and environmental resistance of the introducers to biotic and abiotic factors, replenish the hybrid fund and create domestic highly decorative cultivars resistant to environmental factors, comprehensive introductory assessment and it is based on the expansion of the range of flower garden plants in the decorative horticulture of Ukraine. With the help of a comprehensive introduction assessment, taking into account biological and ecological features, the level of introduction resistance of the NBG collection fund was established, screening and mobilization of promising introducers was carried out for their further involvement in the selection process and introduction into the ornamental horticulture of Ukraine, the selection fund was qualitatively updated and competitive, environmentally sustainable plants were created domestic varieties to edaphic and climatic conditions. During the reporting period, the collection was replenished with 47 species and 202 cultivars. A significant practical achievement of the research – copyright certificates were obtained for 54 varieties. Received patents for 57 sorts and 1 patent for a utility model.
