Karazin Kharkiv National University popup.description2  The study of amorphous-crystalline materials that can serve as glass matrices for long-term immobilisation of radioactive substances was continued. The process of immobilisation of a model composition of radioactive substances was tested for borosilicate glass made on the basis of quartz sand with impurities of lead oxide, barium oxide and calcium fluoride. The best properties were recorded in samples with a lead-borosilicate matrix. Samples of lead-borosilicate matrices are X-ray amorphous, characterised by a dense and homogeneous structure, and have no crystalline inclusions. Continued research on consolidated metal-ceramic materials is devoted to the study of the possibilities of improving the properties of multielement metal matrices of the composition 51Fe-32Cu-9Ni-8Sn (wt%). It has been determined that the addition of vanadium nitride to the metal material affects the phase formation and mechanical properties of samples formed by cold pressing and subsequent vacuum hot pressing.
