Zalizovskyi, Доктор фізико-математичних наук Registration Date 23-01-2024 Organization Radio Astronomical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2  The project aims at study of disturbances in the near-Earth electromagnetic and plasma environment associated with natural and anthropogenic factors by processing and analyzing observational data at the Ukrainian Antarctic station Akademik Vernadsky (UAS) and other measuring points in the Polar Regions. A study of the dynamics of the ionospheric plasma during the commencement of the geomagnetic storm on April 23, 2023 was carried out using the data of the vertical sounding of the ionosphere at the UAS, oblique sounding of the ionosphere using the signals of the UAS ionosonde with a passive ionosonde on board the research vessel (RV) Noosfera, Doppler receivers at UAS, RV Noosfera, and at the LOFAR PL610 observatory located in the village of Borowiec (Poland), magnetometer data of AIA (located at the UAS) and BEL observatories (Belsk Duzy, Poland). Experimental data were used to estimate the parameters of plasma motion and clarify the mechanisms of long-distance propagation of HF radio waves. The possibilities are analyzed and the prospects of joint study of the Schumann resonance using synchronous measurements from the UAS and the Canadian magnetometer network CARISMA are shown. The diurnal and seasonal variations in the characteristics of the behavior of the sources and ionospheric channels of radiation propagation of the energy systems of the North American continent were restored based on the behavior of the narrow-band spectral line of 60 Hz registered at the UAS. Techniques for estimating the integral levels of the broadband electromagnetic background of anthropogenic origin have been developed. The features of the behavior of the broadband electromagnetic background in the LF range were established. The effects of aspect sensitive scattering of the HF radio signals on the plasma inhomogeneities of auroral ovals that impact on the conditions of long-distance HF propagation from the Northern Hemisphere to the Antarctic are described.
