The subject of the work is phase equilibria in multi-component metal systems, crystal structure and physico-chemical properties of intermetallic compounds, as well as establishment of crystal-chemical regularities of the formation of target phases, optimization of synthesis, recommendations for practical application and development of energy-efficient materials. The aim of the project is the synthesis and development of new energy-efficient materials (establishing correlations and relationships between the composition, structure of synthesized phases and properties of materials based on them, interpretation of the features of the chemical interaction of components in metal systems, determination of the crystal structure of new intermetallics compounds). Obtaining potential materials with promising, improved energy-efficient characteristics will be carried out by modifying existing ones and introducing new ones. Experimental data were obtained using modern research methods (X-ray phase, X-ray structural, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, differential thermal and thermogravimetric analysis, electrochemical and gas-phase hydrogenation) and equipments. Solid solutions based on Tb2Ni17 (doped with Nd, Zn, Mg and Li), La2Mg17 (doped with Sn, Sb, Ni), TbCo5 (doped with Li, Mg, Al, Si and Sb), Tb2Ni7 (doped with Al, Ga, Sn, Sb, Mg and Li) were synthesized for the first time and their electrochemical properties were investigated. The electrochemical properties of electrodes based on phases from the region of homogeneity of the HoNiAl1-xInx solid solution (0≤x≤1) were studied.
