The goal is to determine the influence of chronic insomnia on the peculiarities of the dynamic characteristics of mental activity in patients with dyscirculatory encephalopathy and in patients with multiple sclerosis and to develop approaches to the treatment of night sleep disorders in these patients. Research methods are clinical-neurological, polysomnographic, neuropsychological, psychodiagnostic, and monitoring of dynamic characteristics of mental activity using the performance of serial motor tasks, statistical methods. According to the results of the research, it was determined that the presence of chronic insomnia leads to the complication of neurological syndrome complexes due to increased autonomic dysfunction, deterioration of emotional and cognitive functioning. It has been proven that in patients with dyscirculatory encephalopathy, disturbances in the structure of sleep were characterized by suppression of somnogenic mechanisms, and in patients with multiple sclerosis, activation of desynchronizing brain systems was observed. It was shown that the structure of the neuropsychological syndrome in the examined patients was mainly determined by the activation factor associated with the work of non-specific brain systems at all levels of its organization. A computer program was created for monitoring the dynamic characteristics of the functional activity of non-specific brain systems by performing serial motor programs (taping) in different speed modes. In healthy individuals in the conditions of wintering at the Antarctic station, long-term disturbances of night sleep led to an increase in the unevenness of the work, the formation of inversion of asymmetry during the performance of tapping tasks in the high-speed mode, which is a sign of destabilization of the functional activity of non-specific brain systems.
