The purpose of the work is to assess the risks and vulnerability of coastal areas to climate change. Research methods – literature analysis and the results of own observations. The urgency of the work is determined by the need to preserve and restore the natural ecosystems of coastal areas in the face of climate change. As of today, the Flood Risk Management Plan for individual territories within the river basin districts of Ukraine for 2023-2030 has already been developed and approved. At the same time, the algorithm for assessing the risks and vulnerability of coastal areas to climate change has not been fully developed. When developing it, it is necessary to take into account that even minor changes in individual elements of the ecosystem can lead to significant changes. Thus, it is important to take into account the cumulative effect of influencing factors on individual components of coastal areas. The paper analyzes methods of risk assessment and vulnerability of coastal areas to climate change in the conditions of Ukraine. The most common methods used in assessing the risk and vulnerability of coastal areas include: quantitative modeling, factor analysis, principal component analysis, participatory methods, overlay spatial analysis or their combinations.
