Modern developments are aimed at improving the characteristics of basic materials and creating new materials, the quality of which largely determines the functional value of removable prostheses. The use of polishing paste for the final polishing of polymers can reduce the inflammatory reaction of the mucous membrane of the prosthetic bed and increase its resistance to the negative effects of a partial removable prosthesis during the adaptation period. The experience of using thermoplastic polymers for the bases of removable prostheses has shown that, along with positive qualities, there are also technological shortcomings that affect the quality and durability of prostheses. Basically, this is a complex polishing of thermoplastics, which leads to a rapid loss of the aesthetic characteristics of the removable prosthesis. Permanent splinting with modern non-removable metal-ceramic or all-ceramic prostheses, which are preferred over removable structures, is often risky, because in the presence of gingival recession (due to inflammation) for aesthetic reasons, preparation within the clinical crowns of the abutment teeth is necessary, which threatens the normal vital activity of the pulp. It is worth drawing the attention of dentists to the need to carefully collect the anamnesis of a potential patient in order to establish diseases that can lead to a temporomandibular disorder during the patient's initial examination. This can prevent their development or ease the course of the disease.
