The purpose of the research work is to develop the concept and methodology of reliable prediction of critical destructive values of stress-strain state parameters of heterogeneous shell elements of structures, in particular, tanks, dry compartments of launch vehicles, etc. without carrying out their full-scale destructive tests. The essence of the approach is to build methods of replacing such high-cost tests with a methodology of joint application of computer modeling tools and the results of non-destructive experimental tests of such structural elements, as well as new models, methods and algorithms for determining the rational parameters of complex shell structures to reduce their material consumption. The methods of sensitivity theory, optimal design and experimental research were used in the performance of research work. The results of the conducted research are a methodology for substantiating the reliability of mathematical models, choosing a destructive criterion, investigating the impact of input data deviations on the error of the numerical calculation of strength reliability and forecasting the value of the critical destructive load of non-homogeneous shell structures. An algorithm for joint interactive application of modern optimization methods has been developed; engineering design calculation and finite - element analysis to reduce the material consumption of power shell structures of rocket and space technology. The obtained results are new, correspond to the world level and can be used to ensure the reliability of the results of numerical analysis and reduce the volume or complete failure of destructive tests when creating complex mechanical engineering structures.
