Breeds of the Steppe zone were the most productive. To increase the milk yield of cows, it is necessary to plan their birth and first calving at the State Enterprise "Olexandrivske" and the Agricultural Enterprise "On behalf of Valovikova" for the autumn period, and at the State Enterprise "Experimental Farm "Askaniyske" - in the summer and winter, respectively. Cows of the Chief, Eleveishn, and Starbak lines were the most productive in the Forest-Steppe zone, Starbak and Valiant in the Polissya zone, and Annas Adem lines in the Steppe zone. The most successful combinations of lines for inline breeding and crossing lines were also revealed. Preference must be given to animals that come from the best bulls. A fairly significant linear and reliable relation was established between the milk yield of mothers and their daughters (0.237–0.293). Cows whose live weight during the growing period in the Forest-steppe zone was within the following limits: newborns - 40-42, at 6 months age - 181-190, in 12 months. – 321-335 and in the 18th month – 421-435 kg, in the Polissia zone – respectively 43 kg and more, 181-190, 321-335 and 421-435 kg, in the Steppe zone – 43 kg and more, 191-200, 336 kg and more and 421-435 kg were the most productive. In the Forest-Steppe zone, cows with the age of first calving 701-760 had the highest milk yields, and in the Polissia and Steppe zones - 761-820 days, and with a live weight after the first calving in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia zones - 526-550 kg, and in the Steppe zone - 501-525 kg. Variance analysis established that the most theoretically motivated and practically suitable criterion for predicting the productivity of cows is their origin by father, lineal affiliation, age of first calving, and live weight at 12 and 18 months age.
