Korolenko National Pedagogical University popup.description2 Within the framework of the Project, a significant volume of statistical and statistical sources was processed, databases suitable for testing sociological hypotheses and the application of cliometric historical methods were created, and a significant amount of static and digital information was collected. The authors have analyzed the existing historiographic work and the most productive methodological approaches and problem nodes of the research. Such central problems are the study of the quality of life from the point of view of social standards and their implementation in the plane of meeting basic vital needs (supply of food products and access to high-quality drinking water), the emergence of new medicine and the demographic situation, changes in the economy and education. The study of these aspects proves that modernization in Trans-Dnieper Ukraine took place heterogeneously and specifically. The frozen, peasant, weakly urbanized world was not a very fertile field for social experiments. At the same time, according to the main parameters (marriage, mortality, life expectancy), the region differed significantly from the provincial European Russia, and was closer to the indicators of the countries of Central Europe. One of the explanations is the persistence of the features of the Hetmanate (the specifics of the economy, the peculiarities of land ownership, a large layer of Cossacks with their privileges, direct connections with the "West") in the 19th century, which was felt for a long time after the abolition of Cossack autonomy. The obtained technical results (publications, popularization, practical implementation) fully implement the planned indicators of the Project's implementation.
