The subject is the molecular nature of the variability of hybrid genomes in amphidiploids and common wheat lines of introgression origin. Objective: determination of molecular mechanisms of genetic and epigenetic changes that accompany the formation of the genome during introgression hybridization. Research methods: visual, bioinformatic, biochemical, molecular-genetic, statistical. Main results of the work: • It was proved that the variability recorded in the genomes of hybrid origin, amphidiploids and introgression lines has a genetic and epigenetic nature, and mutagenesis can be induced by the movement of mobile genetic elements. • Alteration of the dominant allele to the recessive one occurs in the genome of the amphidiploid Aurotica for genes Iw2 and Iw3, which are located in the Aurotica subgenome TT, that originated from Am. muticum, and exert an epistatic effect on genes – promoters of the development of the wax layer. These genes are part of the subgenomes AABB of Aurotica. Mutations Iw3→ w3 and Iw2→iw2 remove the epistasis, that resulted in a phenotypic change in the trait absence/presence of wax layer in the direction of the latter gradation of trait. The change of this trait in introgression wheat lines – derivatives of genome-substitution amphidiploids Aurodes, Aurosis, Aurolate and in the genome-addition amphidiploid Mioza occurs due to the mutation of the Iw2 gene to the recessive allele and the removal of its epistatic effect on the genes – promoters of the development of the glaucousness.
