Goal - to obtain information on biodiversity, genetic characteristics, vulnerability of supralittoral fauna of coastal marine ecosystems of Ukraine and to develop recommendations to protect it in post-war recovery period. Research methods - to systematize data on genetic structure of supralittoral fauna of Ukrainian marine ecosystems. In the Black Sea, ranges of supralittoral species that provide soil bioturbation, consume the biofilm on substrates, bury and mineralize organics are limited sometimes up to 10 cm wide. Additionally, both war actions (mechanical loads, ruining of landscapes by bombs, water pollution by fuel) and anthropogenic load (agriculture, hydropower, recreational activities, etc.) damaging habitats, making species living there vulnerable. There are a number of gaps in the study of the Black Sea supralittoral fauna: many species are poorly studied genetically, abscent in key lists. Moreover, it was believed that "Mediterranean" fauna in the Azov-Black Sea basin consisted of Holocene migrants, but modern molecular studies show it represent an endemic complex with isolated from the Mediterranean basin genetic lineages. As a result, 170 sequences for 9 supralitoral species were analysed. Within the studied material, we identified 6 isolated from the Mediterranean fauna endemic clades. Particularly, new for science BINs(taxa) were for species previously known as Namanereis pontica, Ligia italica, Tylos ponticus, Orchestia gammarellus, O. montagui. Thus, their international conservation species status requires reassessing. Summarizing, results of indicate a high endemism of supralittoral fauna in the Azov-Black Sea basin. Further goals of the project’s is assessing their conservation status of supralittoral species according to IUCN and analyzing necessary conditions for conservation in post-war restoration.
