The subject of active study in countries where the nuclear power industry is used is: emissions of 14С and 3Н from NPP’s and radioactive waste management sites. As well as 14C content in air, vegetation, food products; 3Н content in atmospheric air, surface and underground waters, soils, vegetation. Estimation of irradiation doses from oral consumption of 14C and 3H to the body; measures to reduce emissions of 14C and 3H into the environment. The 14C contents in samples of annual tree rings (Scots pine) from the influence zones of the Rivne and Chornobyl NPPs and cereal crops plants were studied. The content of 3H in the water samples of the Chernobyl NPP monitoring network was determined. Concentrations of 3H in the water (HTO) and organically bound tritium in food products (OBT) of plant and animal origin were calculated. The assessment of the doses of internal exposure of the population from the use of products containing radiocarbon and tritium was carried out. It was shown that irradiation doses under the conditions of regular operation of the NPP do not exceed the established limits. In order to prevent exposure of people from 3H because of liquid discharges of nuclear power plants, it is necessary to monitor continuously this radionuclide in surface and underground waters, plants, and some food products.
