Research methods: Analysis of materials spreading 90Sr in groundwater, sampling, determination of pH and Eh in them. Stationary field research. Laboratory determinations of concentrations of 90Sr and basic ions in samples. Thermodynamic and simulated numerical modeling using a three-dimensional geofiltration model built in the Visual Modflow program. Determination of forms of radiostrontium in underground waters. Analysis of radiochemical and hydrochemical data by methods of hydrochemical statistics. An analysis of materials spreading 90Sr in groundwater in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone and other areas of the global nuclear fuel cycle, where the environment was contaminated with radionuclides, was carried out. The analysis of scientific works related to determining the behavior of 90Sr in the environment was carried out. A new method of hydrochemical statistics was developed and its application was carried out. Groundwater samples were taken from observation wells located around the NSC-SO complex. In the process of pumping wells for sampling, the temperature, pH and Eh of groundwater were determined, which are necessary for thermodynamic modeling of the forms of strontium occurrence. For the first time, data on the modern distribution of 90Sr in the underground waters of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant site by area and depth of the aquifer were obtained, which made it possible to specify the sources of contamination of the aquifer. For the first time, the reasons for the increase in the migration capacity of 90Sr in alkaline and neutral underground waters are defined and explained.
