The object of research is foreign language communicative strategies within the cognitive-discursive approach considering cross-cultural features. The aim of the work is to analyze models of actualization of foreign language communicative strategies within the cognitive-discursive approach with intercultural features taken into account. The methods applied are interdisciplinary, general scientific and special philological. The research approaches are anthropological, cognitive-discursive, and socio-cultural ones. The scholars have investigated general linguistic factors in the formation of cognitive-discursive strategies: approaches to the discourse interpretation from the linguistic-historiographical perspective. The development of foreign communicative strategies in the intercultural context is related to the precedent strategies in the English political discourse; word-formation models of the English nouns denoting aggression; the linguistic means representing the French mentality in the context of advertisement discourse; the most common values in the French national consciousness; strategies for the formation and use of youth slang and its role in the modern French language. The literary space was used as a source of shaping intercultural competence of the secondary language personality by analyzing short German stories, where gender-role stereotypes of German women in the early 20th century were revealed. The analysis of artistic images in the work of English and French writers revealed the national cultural features of the perception of the events of the First World War. This research contributes to the formation of cognitive-discursive strategies for effective acquisition of a foreign language, its mastering and memorization.
