The purpose of the work is to conduct a physiological and hygienic substantiation of the possibility of using modern teaching aids in the educational activities of elementary school students in the conditions of the "New Ukrainian School" education reform. Research methods are scientometric, hygienic, ophthalmological, psychophysiological, sociological, mathematical and statistical. Reasoned correction and preventive measures for the use of modern teaching aids during an emergency situation in the state (quarantine, martial law, etc.).This is a comprehensive assessment of the influence of modern teaching aids on the body of students based on the analysis of scientific and methodological support, hygienic assessment of textbooks of various types, objective physiological and hygienic analysis of the impact of reading on the visual and nervous systems, psycho-emotional state of children, integrated assessment of complexity, understanding and ease reading texts. The presence of visual fatigue, spasm of accommodation, autonomic dysfunction, increased anxiety according to objective and subjective symptoms has been proven; the influence of the grammatical complexity of texts and font design on children's understanding and ease of reading; the ranks of the hygienic significance of textbook design parameters were calculated, the safe parameters of students' use of teaching aids were substantiated.
