Registration Date 09-02-2024 Organization State Institution "The Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine" popup.description2 Final report on scientific work: 202 pages, 121 figures, 47 tables, 145 sources. The impact of geological and geochemical processes occurring at uranium mining facilities and uranium industry waste storage facilities on radio-ecological safety is assessed. The ecological condition and proposed environmental protection measures within the SZZ of the Ingul, Smolin, and Novokostiantyniv mines have been studied. The analyzed experience of uranium mines in the rational use of"empty"rocks and off-balance ores stored in dumps. Proposed ways of their rational use: complex development of ores, including off-balance ones (uranium and five elements accompanying uranium mineralization reach industrial content (Th, V, Be, Zr, Pb); Co and Ni are close to the minimum industrial values);the use of biological leaching of out-of-balance ores from dumps, in which a sufficient amount of sulfur-containing compounds, in particular, pyrite FeS2,as well as bi-and trivalent iron, which are necessary for this process to occur, is determined, and the most realistic way, which is already implemented in Ukrainian mines,-wide use of mobile ore sorting complexes. Experimental work was carried out to study the quantitative and qualitative composition of mycobiota in samples of the soil cover of the Smolinsk and Novokostiantynivsk mines. The material, chemical, and mineral composition of the tailings of the Prydniprovsk Chemical Plant PCZ and the main directions of its transformation were investigated; kinetics of macroion leaching from tailings; identified objects and materials on the territory of (PCZ) that can be attributed to the resource potential: the most attractive are phosphogypsum and rare earth elements. Keywords: Ukrainian shield, uranium, rational use, radio-ecological safety, waste, tailings, raw material base of nuclear energy. Product Description popup.authors Boyko Alexander V.
