The paper thoroughly examines the current status of this problem in Ukraine and explores potential solutions. The study investigates the alignment of the research topic with Ukraine's national waste management strategy. A critical analysis of technologies for sewage sludge utilization is presented. In response to the challenges identified, an innovative approach is proposed – the creation of a growth substrate as a cost-effective and efficient alternative for managing technogenic waste with organic components. The composition of the growth substrate is carefully chosen to ensure both functional properties and affordability. Experimental testing of the growth substrate includes bioindication methods, and modifications are made by incorporating natural sorbents. The research discusses the future prospects of implementing this innovative technology for the biological reclamation of disturbed lands. Additionally, it explores promising avenues for further research in this field. The findings of this study contribute to the broader understanding of sustainable waste management practices and offer practical solutions for mitigating the environmental impact of sewage sludge.
