The scientific content of the concept of behavioral economics, as a set of positive behavioral economics, which seeks to build descriptively accurate models of human behavior on the basis of the study of the thinking process and study the consequences of this behavior on economic life, as well as applied behavioral economics, which offers the possibility of "correcting" unproductive or destructive the behavior of individuals in order to increase the efficiency of both economic activity and many other aspects of social and private life. As a key methodological feature of behavioral economics, which fundamentally distinguishes it from other schools of economic thought, the focus of research on human thinking processes is highlighted Based on the analysis of key works that formed the theoretical foundation of behavioral economics, the key provisions of the positive part of behavioral economics, which characterize the features of human thinking that have a significant impact on decision-making, were identified and systematized. These provisions are proposed to be divided into the following groups: the dual nature of the decision-making process, limited cognitive abilities, the influence of the social context, and inconsistency in intertemporal choice. As a result of the analysis of the main problems and shortcomings of behavioral economics, a number of possible directions of its development are proposed.
