Among the technological applications, it is possible to mention shock-condenser welding, metal processing, stamping, riveting, assembly and forming operations, etc. LIECs are used for various testing systems for impact loads, high-speed electrical devices, destruction of information in the event of unauthorized access, valve-switching equipment, seismic sources, cleaning of bunkers from remaining materials and power lines from icing, launchers, etc. Many types of inductive current limiters in the form of reactors are used to limit short-circuit currents, maintain bus voltage, and some other purposes. According to their purpose, they are divided into current-limiting reactors that smooth out communication barriers (for example, in electrified railway networks), starters for synchronous compensators, etc. in the step-down transformer circuit of power stations and substations.
